Sean Petrie is the award-winning author of the poetry books Listen to the Trees: A Poetic Snapshot of West Seattle and Typewriter Rodeo. He also writes books for kids, including the upcoming Jett Ryder series. He lived in West Seattle for a year (2017-18) and wrote on-demand poems, on an old typewriter, at events all over the area, including for the Seattle Art Museum, Portland Book Festival, and Bellingham Farmers Market.
Sean has an MFA in Writing for Kids from Vermont College of Fine Arts and a law degree from Stanford. He teaches creative writing workshops for kids & adults and teaches legal writing at the University of Texas Law School.
As a founding member of Typewriter Rodeo, he has written over 20,000 on-demand poems at events all across the country and does weekly radio poems for Austin's NPR station. He owns way too many typewriters.
