Ogie Shaw is currently president of Ogie Shaw Fitness in Beaverton, Oregon as well as the Executive Director of Community Fitness Leaders, a training program for health and fitness professions. Ogie Shaw Fitness is a spin-off from American Physical Fitness and Fitness Motivation Institute of America, organizations made up of individuals responsible for the development, research and marketing of the isokinetic-rope friction exercise program used in the Apollo 11 moon landing. Ogie was recruited to become a part of the national network of medical and fitness professionals who were trained to be the exclusive marketing agents and instructors for this exercise program. In the early 1980s, there was a national reorganization that allowed Ogie to work under his own company name and to do more research in finding solutions to the problem of motivation to exercise. Ogie created Community Fitness Leaders training as a way to share his findings with other medical and fitness leaders who share his commitment to fitness.
Ogie is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with B.A. degrees in both Speech and Physical Education. He also holds a Master of Sacred Ministry degree from Multnomah Biblical Seminary in Portland, Oregon. He continues to speak national and meet weekly with clients for personal fitness testing and counseling and is more optimistic about America’s fitness future more than ever.
